How We Communicate

Children are visited at home before they start in nursery and before they move into Reception, parents are invited along to a meeting in school to talk about the transition.

We do our best to keep you informed about what your children are learning in school and encourage you to take an active part in helping your child at home with their home learning via our school website, Facebook, text messaging service and Seesaw.

There are two parents evenings each year to which you will be invited to discuss your child’s work and progress but an appointment can be made to speak to your child’s teacher about any concern at any time in the year. Please also contact us by phone or visit to let us know of any circumstance that might affect your child at school or any other general worries you may have. If we are worried about any aspect of your child’s work, progress or behaviour we will contact you.

Parents are regularly consulted by the school on all aspects of our work. We send our parent surveys and hold forums to discuss areas for school improvement as well as consulting with individuals informally at parent events.

At certain times of the year workshops are held for parents or carers to work with their children. In addition any courses for parents are on offer during the year including volunteering, parenting, and computers.

Many parents help us in school by working regularly in the classroom with children and by coming on educational visits with us. We run a course for parents who would like to regularly volunteer in school. If you would like to help in this way please speak to your child’s class teacher.

There are many opportunities during the year to attend class assemblies, performances, and other celebrations of children’s work. We look forward to seeing you there.

Supporting Learning at Home

Seesaw is an online platform for student engagement and parental involvement. It inspires pupils to do their best. Children at the Academy use a range of digital tools to create and share their work and capture their learning in a personal portfolio. Teachers create and manage activities to challenge pupils and share achievements with their parents.

Seesaw is our main means of communication with parents. It is designed to share and celebrate learning. It helps teachers to capture the learning process and provides parents with a window into the classroom so they can support learning at home. Every child has an individual account and we would like all parents to link to these to receive regular updates about progress and achievement plus class, year group and school news. All letters to parents, excepting those requiring signed consent, will be posted on Seesaw. If a parent cannot access Seesaw they should inform the main school office.

Complaints Procedure

We do our best to ensure all our children are safe and enjoy their time with us. We do our best to communicate well. In the unlikely event that you are not happy with something and you have been to school to try to resolve this but it has not helped, please see the complaints policy.

The following policies are on our Trust Website:
